Welcome to Clemson!

Clemson Argricultural College of South Carolina was founded in 1889 and became Clemson Univeristy in 1964. Its founder, Thomas Green Clemson, had a vision for a "high seminary of learning" and left most of his estate in his will for the establishment of a land-grant institution to be built upon the property of the Fort Hill estate, the home of his father-in-law, John C. Calhoun.

James P. Clements recently became Clemson's 15th president. He's excited to join the Clemson family and believes that Clemson is one of the greatest public land-grant institutions in the country.

Today, US News and World Report ranks Clemson as #21 among national public universities. Notable aspects of student life at Clemson include ACC athletics, Greek life, intramurals, and many student clubs and organizations. Clemson traditions include the First Friday Parade, Solid Orange Friday, and rubbing Howard's Rock in Memorial Stadium before a football game.

"Where the Blue Ridge yawns its greatness,

Where the Tigers play,

Here the sons of dear old Clemson

Reign supreme alway.

CHORUS

Dear old Clemson, we will triumph,

And with all our might,

That the Tiger's roar may echo

O'er the mountain height." - Alma Mater
